Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
2 Timothy 4:2 ESV
Our pastors carry a profound and significant responsibility. Throughout the week, they engage in sermon preparation and preaching. Additionally, they visit members and guests, teaching classes, leading meetings, and much more. Their ministry encompasses four essential roles:
- First, pastors proclaim the whole counsel of God—His entire Word. The goal is to preach Christ-centered sermons and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ so that members and visitors may find both salvation and spiritual growth in Him.
- Second, pastors faithfully administer the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, in obedience to Christ’s command.
- Third, pastors lead in prayer during public worship, lifting up the congregation’s needs in petitions, intercessions, and thanksgiving to the Lord.
- Lastly, pastors also constitute the consistory (the spiritual leadership) together with the elders to make sure that all things are done in good order.
This calling is a profound privilege from the Lord, our Chief Shepherd. Please remember to keep our pastors in your prayers and offer them encouragement in their ministry!
